Nature activities and events happening this week 10-16 May 2004 15 May (Sat): Heritage Tree Race at Fort Canning Park Time: Morning (more details will be provided to those who register for the event) For kids and adults, a morning of fun and learning in the soothing sights and sounds of nature. Form a team of 3-4 and join in the Race, organised by the Plant group and a group of girls from Raffles Girls' School (Secondary). Learn more about Singapore's Heritage Tree Scheme and enjoy a simple picnic after the race. An ideal morning out for the whole family! Teams should include at least one child, if possible. A nominal fee of $8 (members) or $10 (non-members) per person will be charged. To register, email Kok Wei at moreh@starhub.net.sg. To join the NSS, email contact@nss.org.sg or call 6741 2036. 15 May (Sat): Free guided walk of Changi Boardwalk Time: 10am meet at the coffee shop nearest to Changi Meridian Hotel There are many beautiful, old and interesting trees around Changi Point. With the recent opening of the Beach front Boardwalk, this walk has become even more interesting. Conducted by the Green Volunteer Network, the entire walk would take about 2 hours and please bring along your own water and wear comfortable walking shoes/sandals. Contact: info@gvn.com.sg or 6337 6062. 15 May (Sat): Free guided walk of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm You'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Meet at the Visitor Centre. Usual entry charges apply: $1 per adult, 50cents per child /student/senior citizen.
