Nature activities and events happening this week 6-12 Nov 06 11 Nov (Sat): Eye é City: A Visual Account of the Last 24 Hours Since 2002, enthusiasts have been traversing Singapore on the last day of each year capturing images of the island and her people. From the heartlands to the nature reserves, from Chinatown to Orchard Road. From images submitted, 100 that best represents each year were selected for publication and a month-long exhibition at the National Library. The objective of this project is to preserve the collective memories of Singapore through the eyes of people from all walks of life, be they foreign or local. It is a collective effort to document humanism and history of the city. Come for a photography sharing session on this project and pre-registration for the event. Don't worry if you're a novice cyclist. As long as you can balance yourself on a bike, you can certainly join us! More details on the Pedal Ubin website. Time: 8am meet at Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Cost: $10.50 (inclusive GST) per participant per ride. It goes towards paying for the bumboat ride to Pulau Ubin and whole day bicycle rental. It also includes a token sum to indicate your commitment to the ride. If you are bringing your own bicycles, the charge is $7.35 (inclusive GST) per participant per ride. Right in the heart of the city, within minutes of Orchard Road, this is the oldest remnant of rainforest in Singapore! more Time: 9am, 10am, 11am, 4pm; Register 15 minutes before the tour at the Visitor Centre. Tour duration: one hour. Suitable for young children. A special Mandarin version of this tour is at 4pm. Contact: sbwr@pacific.net.sg or call 6794 1401 Until 31 Dec 06: States of Being: Mammals found in our Sea Inspired by the “Undersea World” stamp issue released in March 2006, this exhibition presents information on four sea mammals, and suggests simple things humans can do to protect the mammals and their natural environment. Through the use of exhibition guides, parents can explain information, impart values to the children, and facilitate the acquisition of analysis and reasoning skills. The exhibition is targetted for five to eight year-olds.
