23 Jun-17 Jul: Conserving Singapore's Biodiversity Exhibition at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

The exhibition aims to create public awareness of our local biodiversity. It comprises of a series of posters showcasing Singapore's different habitats, flora and fauna. Visitors can also pen their thoughts about conserving Singapore's nature, plants and animals.

12 Jul (Wed): Bird Chat: Argus Pheasant - A Bad Start to Bird Watching

Come join Dr. Geoffrey Davison as he shares his many interesting experiences on the Argus Pheasant and Peacock-Pheasant, and what they get up to. Geoffrey spent a considerable amount of time studying these birds for his doctorate and there is no one better than him to give us this talk. Note: This chat was originally scheduled for 7 Jun 2006 - this is a re-schedule.

A talk by Tan Heok Hui on his new book "The Borneo Suckers. Revision of the Torrent Loaches of Borneo (Balitoridae: Gastromyzon, Neogastromyzon)". A few copies of the book will be available for sale then at a cost of S$90 (hardcover).

15 Jul (Sat): Dolphins, Turtles, Otters and Other Secrets of Singapore!

15 Jul (Sat): Growing Orchids in High-rise Apartments

Orchids are suitable plants to grow in high-rise apartments, and they will provide you with years of joy, beauty and colour once you have mastered the basics in orchid culture. At this workshop, Mr Tan Boon Kiat, Singapore Gardening Society will share his experience in growing orchids and provide tips on the successful cultivation of these exotic plants in our warm and dry balconies/corridors/windowsills. Participants will also be introduced to some orchids that are easy to grow in high-rise apartments. Admission is Free. No registration required.

15 Jul (Sat): Mangrove Clean up with the Green Volunteers Network

The Green Volunteers Network has adopted the mangroves at Pasir Ris Park (Sungei Tampines). A recent study has shown that one hectare of mangroves can absorb up to 1.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide in a year about the same amount emitted by a medium sized car during a year. So do your bit to conserve our mangroves. 100 volunteers needed.

This is hard but satisfying work. If you’re afraid to get muddy, your feet wet and hands dirty this is NOT an activity for you. If you’re a Teacher and want to bring students along we would need to know how many and their ages. When you book please leave your mobile number.

15 Jul (Sat): Native Plant Hunt at Hindhede Nature Park

Here's a chance to learn at least 8 native plant species in a fun way! Form a team of 3 to 5 members and pick up a set of clues at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Visitor Centre anytime from 10.00 am to 11.00 am. You have one hour to complete your hunt.

Registration for the free plant hunt is limited to maximum of 20 people per registrant.
