27 Oct 05 - 17 Jan 06: ‘La Terre Vue du Ciel’- Earth from above

The French Embassy and the Singapore Environment Council present the world-renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s exhibition ‘La Terre Vue du Ciel’ or ‘Earth from Above’. Held on Orchard Road stretching across Liat Towers, Far East Shopping Centre, Hilton Hotel and Forum Galleria, this is the first of its kind in South East Asia. The exhibition is an aerial portrait of our planet captured in 120 breathtaking photos.

23 Nov-31 Dec 05: From Ants to Eagles - photos of Singapore's wildlife

An exhibition of prints by 20 members of the Nature Photographic Society (Singapore) featuring local wildlife images. A photography course for beginners will be run at the epSITE during the exhibition.

1-31 Dec 05: Precipitous - Remembering Dec 26

A photo exhibition capturing the life and heartbeat that was before the 26 Dec 04 tsunami. Debby Ng, freelance photographer and established environmental and animal protection activist, took these images before the tsunami. At that time, she didn't know if the people in her pictures were still alive. She believes that until we recognize what existed in these places of tragedy, we will not realize what was truly lost.

2-31 Dec: Giving Tree @ North East

Singapore's Largest Volunteers' Fair featuring 50 voluntary host organisations (VHO). These VHOs will be showcasing their work and to heighten the awareness of their need for volunteers.

Main Bridge31 Dec (Sat): Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve free guided walk

You'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Besides the abundant bird life, there is also other fascinating wildlife in the Reserve. more

4pm: Free Marine Fish Guided Walk at Sungei Buloh introducing you to the fabulous fishes of the Reserve.

Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm, for walk in guests, register at the Visitor Centre. Those coming with large groups are advised to pre-register.
Tour duration: one to one and a half hours. Easy trails, some suitable for young children.
Entry charges: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen.

31 Dec (Sat): Guided tour of Pulau Semakau

Despite being used as a landfill, Pulau Semakau is still a major sanctuary of many marine ecosystems and organisms that were once widespread throughout the Southern Islands.

It showcases NEA’s success in managing an effective landfill while still retaining a key and unique example of Singapore’s natural heritage.

In conjunction with NEA, the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR) brings its nature education programmes to Semakau Landfill.

Together with NEA, RMBR offers a 2-hour guided walk that will take you through the operations of the landfill, the plots of reforested mangroves and the pristine intertidal areas that extremely rich in flora and fauna.

Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.
