Nature activities and events happening this week 19-25 Dec 05 27 Oct 05 - 17 Jan 06: ‘La Terre Vue du Ciel’- Earth from above The French Embassy and the Singapore Environment Council present the world-renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s exhibition ‘La Terre Vue du Ciel’ or ‘Earth from Above’. Held on Orchard Road stretching across Liat Towers, Far East Shopping Centre, Hilton Hotel and Forum Galleria, this is the first of its kind in South East Asia. The exhibition is an aerial portrait of our planet captured in 120 breathtaking photos. Debby Ng, freelance photographer and established environmental and animal protection activist, took these images before the tsunami. At that time, she didn't know if the people in her pictures were still alive. She believes that until we recognize what existed in these places of tragedy, we will not realize what was truly lost. Debby is also author of the Hantu Blog. The easy walk is an excellent introduction to the rustic and natural character of the island. You will be able to touch, see or smell fruit trees, spices and herbs for cooking, plants used in traditional medicine and native plants of the mangrove forest. more Time: Tours start at 9.30am and 10am, meet 10 minutes before the tour stars at the Ubin Information Kiosk (near Ubin Jetty). Tour duration: one and a half hours. To join the guided tour, you will need to pre-book with NParks. Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm, for walk in guests, register at the Visitor Centre. Those coming with large groups are advised to pre-register. Tour duration: one to one and a half hours. Easy trails, some suitable for young children. Entry charges: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen.
