Established by the United Nations, it is based on a theme for the year. The theme for 2005 is Green Cities and the slogan is Plan for the Planet! More details for 2005 World Environment Day events. Since 2004, the Singapore Green Plan 2012 (SGP 2012) Award is awarded in June.

The 2-hour walk with the Habitat Group's Briskwalk Club is a chance to experience the ambience of the morning's sounds and fresh smells and a beautiful sunrise. Led by a group of regular walkers on these trails, this walk is unusual as it is not a nature observation walk (which is a much longer walk), but rather, a chance to exercise amidst a pleasant, natural setting that we treasure in Singapore.

Everyone is welcome, but you should be used to taking short walks. More details on requirements and what to expect on the MRBT briskwalk website and Siva's habitatnews blog.

Time:
6.45-9am
Duration: 2 hours

5 Jun (Sun): Celebrate World Environment Day with a Nature Walk at Yishun Park with Goh Si Guim
open only to NSS members

Goh Si Guim introduces Yishun Park. When Yishun town was built, a small hill with largely secondary forest cover was, fortunately, conserved. With a few cobbled trails in place, it’s now a lovely park. Dominated by towering Albizia, this tiny green haven is home to a nesting pair of White-bellied Fish-eagles. Let’s explore this lovely green spot, and also check on the resident eagles. Kids are welcome to join in the fun! Let’s have Fun With Eagles! more about Si Guim

Time:
8am, meet at the control station of Yishun MRT.
Contact: More details about the Nature Society (Singapore). To join the NSS, email contact@nss.org.sg or call 6741 2036.
