ON THIS WEEK?! Nature activities and events happening this week 14-20 Feb 05 15 Feb (Tue): Free talk by Dr Chua Ee Kiam on "Borneo's Tropical Eden Sabah" Hosted by N. Sivasothi, Dr. Chua Ee Kiam will talk about his recently launched fourth pictorial book, Borneo's Tropical Eden - Sabah. A colourful and illustrative book, it captures the essence of Sabah and is the masterpiece of three close friends Dr. Chua, Billy Kon and Lee King Li. View the map 19 Feb (Sat): Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve free guided walk You'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Besides the abundant bird life, there is also other fascinating wildlife in the Reserve. more Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm, for walk in guests, register at the Visitor Centre. Those coming with large groups are advised to pre-register. Tour duration: one to one and a half hours. Easy trails, some suitable for young children. Entry charges: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen. Contact: sbwr@pacific.net.sg or call 6794 1401 20 Feb (Sun): Pedal Ubin--Free guided cycling trip of Pulau Ubin This 3.5-4 hour ride is suitable especially for those who are clueless about Ubin. Don't worry if you're a novice cyclist. As long as you can balance yourself on a bike, you can certainly join us! More details on the Pedal Ubin website. Time: 8.30am Pre-registration is essential. (e)Name and tel. of person to contact in case of emergencies. 20 Feb (Sun): Kids’ Fun with Flowers with NSS Open only to NSS members and associates Goh Si Guim, Ting Hui Ping and the Education Group explore flowers. If you’re between 5 and 11 years old and love flowers or are just curious to know more about them, join us for some flower fun today! What are the parts of a flower, and what purposes do these parts serve? How many types of flowers do we know? Wear lightweight cotton clothing, a good pair of walking shoes, bring a bottle of water, hand lens (if you have), nature journal/notebook and a pencil.
