NewsAsia 12 Jan 07 NUS sets up new institute to spur environmental education By S Ramesh SINGAPORE: Environmental research and education in Singapore is set to be given a boost with the setting up of a new institute at the National University of Singapore (NUS). NUS says the environment and water sector has been identified as one with potentially high growth and economic relevance to Singapore. And the new Environmental Research Institute will coordinate research and development at NUS in water, air quality, energy, sensing, security and policy issues. The institute will be led by Professor Michael Saunders, who was professor of bio-engineering, civil and environmental engineering at Georgia Tech before joining NUS.
