NewsAsia 14 Jul 06 Lucky draw trash bags now in funpacks for NDP 2006 By Amanda Mun, Channel NewsAsia SINGAPORE: National Day Parade Fun packs add that extra touch for spectators and is usually one of the biggest draws to the Parade. This year's funpack has an interesting twist. Together with the National Environment Agency (NEA) to promote the 'Clean Singapore Campaign', organisers are using the normal trash bag for a contest. "The spectators are encouraged to bag their trash and dispose of them. Before they dispose of them, a sticker is provided for them to stick onto the bag. There is a retained portion of it that allows you to identify if your bag is been picked as one of the lucky winners of some prizes provided by the NEA," said LTC Bernard Yeo, Chairman Logistics and Finance, Deputy Chairman Sponsorship. The funpack contains 26 items grouped into 3 categories: interactive gadgets that are used to enhance the show, items to make spectators more comfortable, and pamphlets. The bag, featuring designs by Temasek Polytechnic students, also has some new goodies. "There are 2 key special features - there's a customized window that allows you to change the outlook of the bag by putting in your own pictures. The other feature is the detachable phone pouch. Another item that is different in this year's funpack is the cap, as it comes with fiber optics lighting of a Singapore flag that is very nice in the night," said LTC Yeo. The 220,000 funpacks will be given out at the parade preview, and the August 9th show. - CNA /dt links Related articles on Singapore: reduce, reuse, recycle |
