More details Contact: Ubin Information Kiosk 6542-4108 6-7 Nov (Thu-Fri): Project Eco Office 2003 Roadshow Time: 12-2.30pm Place: Raffles Place Park Find out how you can help protect our environment by reducing the use of disposable containers. The Roadshow also features two days of fun and the chance to win fabulous prizes from Mitsubishi Electric, Canon and The Body Shop. Highlights include Mr Foamy, a 5m giant sculpture created with discarded plastic and styrofoam food containers. Get an exclusive 3-year calendar cum playing cards, "Save the Planet" stickers and a chance to win a Body Shop hamper when you bring down 1 kg (roughly a bagful) of recyclable items, such as old newspapers and magazines, plastic containers, glass bottles, office equipment and furniture etc. Project Eco Office is a joint initiative by CDL and SEC launched in June 2002 that aims to promote environment-friendly practices among office workers for a healthier working environment and greener Planet Earth. Learn about nature, the relations between human beings and animals in natural environment. The exhibition will be on for the whole of Nov and on weekends, NParks rangers and volunteers will be at hand to explain the exhibits and help you learn more about the monkeys. An event jointly organized by RICOH Asia, SEC, Northeast CDC and NParks. Contact: George Tay 6391 4415 8 Nov (Sat): Guided tour at Pasir Panjang Nursery (PPN) Time: 9am. Contact: Visitor Services, 64717361 or NPARKS_SBG_Visitor_Services@NPARKS.GOV.SG 8 Nov (Sat): Free guided walk of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Time: 9am, 10am, 3pm, 4pm You'll see the fabulous plants and animals of the mangroves and freshwater wetlands. Meet at the Visitor Centre. Usual entry charges apply: $1 per adult, 50cents per child /student/senior citizen. More details In conjunction with Clean and Green Week, there will be a special event at the Reserve: BirdWatch at 9am and 3pm at the Main Hide and Aerie Hide. Catch these guided events to learn more about the migratory shorebirds who will be in full force at the Reserve at this time. Contact: sbwr@pacific.net.sg or call 6794 1401 9 Nov (Sun): Green Discovery at Pasir Ris Park Time: 8.30am at Downtown East. Fun and adventure outdoors, organized by Northeast CDC and Aboutwe. Our very own Wildlife Singapore will be participating in this event with a photo exhibition showcasing Singapore's wild places. Volunteers will present to share with you more about these places and how you can make a difference to appreciate and conserve our wild places. See also the Wildlife Singapore website. Meet at the junction of Pasir Ris Drive 12 and Drive 1, on the side of the Pasir Ris Wafer Fab Park. Open only to NSS members and associates See Swee Leng will introduce what was once Singapore’s foremost birdwatching site. Development and subsequent deterioration of the site has rendered it a fragment of its former self. Looking on the bright side however, some species particular to this site and easier to find here are still eking out their existence, like the Little Grebe, Lesser Whistling-duck, Common Moorhen and White-browed Crake. The migratory period should bring in its wake some additional species for us to view. Look out also for migrating raptors above. More details about the Nature Society (Singapore). Meet at entrance of the trail, about 300m from the fishing ground, MacRitchie Reservoir Park. You'll see breath-taking views of the reservoir and surrounding forests and learn more about the freshwater and land wildlife and plants there. To join the guided tour, you will need to pre-book.
